Emotional Wellbeing
Common emotional issues treated with Chinese Medicine:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Insomnia
- PTSD
- Anorexia/ Bulimia
- Addiction
- Stress Reduction
We look at treating emotions in a very different way than Western medicine by treating the emotional body or the Shen - which is the spirit of the person and the the root cause of the issue.
Chinese medicine has the ability to release endorphins and change the cellular structure and response the brain has to specific emotions or stress. It has been researched and shown to be as effective as Western pharmaceutical treatment in both Anxiety and Depression as well as in PTSD and chronic stress. Because of this, almost every Veterans Association in the US has an acupuncturist on staff, since it has been one of the main tools helping soldiers coming back from war who may be experiencing PTSD.
We view the body, mind and spirit completely unified into one without separation. Each organ channel has it’s own emotion associated with it and when it is out of balance we see specific manifestations happen both emotionally and physically and treat according to what patterns of imbalance arise. Acupuncture allows the body to deeply relax, accessing alpha waves within the body, allowing our Qi to flow and also nourish what other organs may be out of balance.
